Aromatherapy
What is Aromatherapy?
Each of us has an individual sense of smell as unique as our fingerprints. Indeed, sense of smell is one of the most powerful and instinctive of all our senses. Since the beginning of intelligent human existence we have relied on it to help us identify our choice of goods, warn of dangers and select medicinal herbs. The use of pure essential oils and aromatherapy techniques offer a natural approach to enhance health and wellbeing Aromatherapy is the modern name for using natural oils from flowers, fruits and other parts of plants to improve physical and mental wellbeing.

In common with many other Complementary therapies, aromatherapy takes a holistic approach to healing, taking into account the whole person, treating both physical and emotional symptoms. Many plants contain valuable essential oils, each with their own special characteristics and healing properties. Oils work in two ways, directly by smell, and also by being absorbed through the skin in minute quantities into the blood stream. Massage uses both of the above methods in harmony to produce a result. The aroma given off by the oil has a direct effect on the part of the brain which governs emotion. When applied to the skin the essential oils are absorbed into the blood stream, where it is believed they may help to stimulate the various body systems.

Our Aromatherapist at St. Georges Multi Therapy Centre is I.I.H.H.T. trained (nationally recognised qualification). Oils are individually mixed for each patient’s circumstances. Full case histories are taken before treatment commences (some patients may have complications for this form of treatment and may be advised of this during the consultation stages of the visit). Full confidentiality and privacy is maintained at all times. Treatment is carried out in an individual room on a one to one basis with the Therapist.
